Dive Sites Van Phong Bay

Van Phong Bay with Long white sandy coast, light clear blue beach is located between Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa districts in Khanh Hoa province, about 80km north of Nha Trang city center. Van Phong Bay is a large, sheltered strait consisting of 28 islands and small bays. This place is endowed by nature with a beautiful landscape like a harmonious painting interwoven with the vivid and fresh colors of clouds, mountains, forests and the ocean. Not too noisy and bustling, the sea still retains its almost intact wildness with rocky cliffs, blue beaches, yellow sand, semi-desert forests…

We had been diving for a whole bright sunny and soft waves day under the coral reef near the Hon Lon Island. The lively colourful branches of coral are away from the water surface just about an arm. Marine fish in gold, green, red … wander indifferent about divers. Starfishes lie on the sand beside the gentle urchins. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced diver, there are sites suitable for all experience levels: Hon Tai, Hon Do, Bai Su, Hon Trau Nam, and Bai Gieng.

Come to Van Phong to discover the hidden charm of this paradise on earth. That’s the heaven.

There are several dive sites around the area including the following:

Hon Trau Nam (Three Kings): Swimthoughs and caves, rays often seen resting.

Hon Kho Trang: Two dive sites, coral gardens, good visibility and marine life.

Hon Tai (Ear Island): Coral plateau, nurse and whitetips often spotted, sea slugs.

Napoleon Rock: Sheltered site with sandy bottom, resident napoleon wrasse.

Raoul’s Reef: Wall covered in feather stars, ghost pipefish found here.

Bai Su: Caves at 15m, good for spotting nudibranchs, nice to dive at night.

Hon Ong: Good night dive spot with seahorses, shrimps and spanish dancers.
